Fourth of July crazed

July 4th was on a Friday and so… we don’t have work! Woohoo! It’s always good to get a time off from work without using any of our leaves haha! A friend from church called and invited us over for a cook out at their house and to just hangout together with the other young couples but we’ve already decided beforehand to dedicate this day to just stay at home and do some major cleaning : ) and so we opted not to go.

For the past few weeks, we just haven’t had the time to tidy up the house. We did however manage to sweep the floor (we have walis tambo hehe) every now and then and to always make our bed of course (untidy bed is one of my pet peeves hehe) but that’s about the extent of our cleaning *lol*. With warren’s basketball games on Saturdays (warren will tell you all about it in another post… they are winning though! Go yellow! Ooops *knock on wood* I don’t wanna jinx it! hehe). Then we helped a friend did her garage sale (Oh by the way we’re doing this again in a couple of weeks! It was a lot of fun!). To being invited to a get together, etcetera etceteras. With all these commotions, it just somehow consumed our weekends. Weekdays as you know, we work eight hrs from Monday to Friday and from getting up early and preparing breakfast in the morning to coming home from work to cooking dinner at night, cleaning on these days is just not an option. We do a little amount but that’s about it we just don’t have the energy anymore. Weekends are the only days that we are able to do this stuff but unfortunately, these past weekends it just didn’t happen. :(

And so that left us with… piles and piles of newspapers, magazine papers, junk mail papers, all kinds of papers! It’s all over the place, oh my gosh! This alone is overwhelming! You can’t just throw this away! You actually have to go through each one of them and sort out the ones that needed to be shred from the ones that you can just throw away… very time consuming and they just keep coming! Plus a bunch of unfolded laundry still in the basket untouched. A Pile of laundry that needs to be washed (gees! everything is a pile of something! Isn’t it!). Dusty windows… markings on the floor… messy kitchen… name it! Don’t get us wrong we are not a messy couple and definitely not slackers, it just so happen to piled up somehow these past few weeks. And so we are very thankful to have this day dedicated to just tidying things up. :)

Having a good heavy breakfast is the way to start our day we supposed :) so we made champorado and sausage and orange juice (which by the way does not match with champorad haha! It makes my stomach growl! it’s probably from the milk and the acidity of the OJ, oh well) and pandesal that we bought in the oriental store… good stuff! *lol* and off to the task! Here we are cleaning our butts off haha! From dusting around, to sweeping and mapping the floor to collating all the papers, doing laundry, folding washed laundry, washing dishes, removing all the grease splatter around the stove and counter tops, vacuuming, to turning things around and up side down! And of course goofing around while getting things done *lol* it sure did turned out to be a good workout! Btw, please pardon us we looked like house elves here (you know, from Harry Potter??? Dobby? Ok whatever!)! Haha! After all that, we treated ourselves with a good hearty lunch! Pritong daing na bangus and itlog na maalat with tomatoes and white rice… mmmm!… heaven! :)

Intermission muna! *LOL!*

Here is the upshot… not bad huh? : )

But of course we didn’t forget what this day is about! After we had a good rest from all that cleaning, we did managed to go out that evening to watched the fireworks at our local park (Clifton Commons) and met with friends mia, jon, baby rainier and jon’s parents. It was fun! We took many pictures in the park especially the fireworks that it drained our camera’s battery hehe. We had a great time! But going home from the park was horrible, really! It took us a good 35 minutes or so just to get out of the parking lot! And didn’t get home until 11:15pm or something! So we have decided while seating there waiting and barely moving… that next year we’ll just go by bicycles to the park because that seems to be more accessible and the park is not that far away from where we live anyway… problem solved! *lol*

On the whole, we can say it was a good 4th of July holiday!

Here is a few seconds video of the fireworks just before the camera died :)
